Mike Huckabee will be stumping in Iowa later this monthIf I had to guess right now who I'd think would win the Republican primary in 2011, Huckabee it would be. The right wing of the party is his base, but he is a very charming politician who is fairly untainted by the Bush years and he's not afraid to go on The Daily Show. He'll have a few years to convince the Republican establishment that he's one of them and I'm sure he'll manage it.
Palin's chances are extremely low in my opinion. She attracts the same crowd as Huckabee but she has shown herself to be too ignorant, too divisive, unable to attract independants or city-dwellers and the scandals coming out of the Circular Firing Squad are just too hurtful for her image. Thirteen suitcases full of clothes? Silk boxer? Good luck trying to spin that, especially when you have another politician that can "fire up the base" without all those negatives.
